PRODUCTION AREA: villages of Faro Superiore and
Curcuraci- Messina, North-Eastern Sicily.
ALTITUDE: 250 – 300 m above sea level.
GRAPE VARIETIES: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello
Cappuccio, Nocera.
VINEYARD AGE: from 10 to 80 years.
TRAINING SYSTEM: bush vines.
DENSITY: 5000 vines/hectare.
SOIL TYPE: calcareous clay.
AGRICULTURE: organic. No use of chemical fertilizers,
supply of organic matter through green manures of
legumes and grasses; no use of herbicides and
insecticides; careful green pruning to limit pesticide
treatments to the bare minimum, using low doses of
copper and sulfurry.
YIELD PER HECTARE: 60 quintals
HARVEST: by hand in mid-September.
WINEMAKING: no addition of chemical additives to the
grapes, maceration on the skins for approximately 12/18
hours, then fermentation in steel.
AGING: 6 months in cement and steel.
PRODUCTION: approximately 7.000 bottles.
