Castello di Verduno Pelaverga Basadone 2024 (750ml)

NOTES Some of the Castello di Verduno wines have a drawing of a flower found in the wine's vineyards.The Pelaverga label has a drawing of poppies which are called Basadone in local dialect (papavero in Italian). Basadone in dialect also means a little kiss - local tradition has it that Pelaverga is an aphrodesiac!

VINEYARD Sourced from vineyards in the Massara and Olmo crus, in the commune of Verduno.

ORIENTATION Southeast exposition. Massara vineyard at 240 m and Olmo at 340 m in elevation.

SOIL The white soil is full of limestone and clay.

VITICULTURE Hand-harvested in the first weeks of September. From four different parcels planted from 1972-2001. Practicing organic.

VINIFICATION Fermented in stainless steel for about ten days with periodic punching down of the cap.

AGING Aged for nine months in stainless steel followed by three months in the bottle before release.

PRODUCTION About 15,800 bottles and 800 half bottles.
