From a 13-generation Sancerre family working in Sury-en-Vaux, this is one of the great-value Sauvignons of the upper Loire. Coteaux du Giennois lies just north of Sancerre along the river, on clay-siliceous soils over a limestone base — terroir close in spirit to its more famous neighbor but at a fraction of the cost. Sonia Raimbault and her children make this in stainless steel at cool temperatures with aging on fine lees, a textbook approach that preserves both fruit and minerality. First produced in 1991, the wine has become a benchmark for the appellation: crisp, aromatic, citrus-driven, with a saline cut and just enough texture to take it to the dinner table.
Rich and aromatic. Fermented at low temperatures (14-16°C) in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks, aged on fine lees. Pairs with aperitif, oysters, and shellfish. 2-3 year cellaring.
Vinification: Bonding with bentonite, traditional methods are used alongside modern techniques
Élevage: The wine is matured on its fine lies right up until bottling
Vineyard Soil: The vineyard is situated on the slopes of the Loire Valley and benefits from a clay-siliceous soil on the surface and a dry, limestone subsoil.
Tasting Notes: The Coteaux du Giennois Blanc is rich and aromatic and combines the sweetness of the fruit with a lovely minerality.
Food Pairings: Very pleasant and refreshing, this wine is excellent as an aperitif, with oysters and other shellfish
Serving Temp: Best when served chilled, at about 10-12°C
Cellaring: 2-3 years
