Region: DOC Colares – Portugal
Variety | Soil | Climate: Created from the indigenous variety Malvasia de Colares, own-rooted in the sandy soils of Colares. This deep layer of sand lies on top of a clay-limestone “mother-rock,” creating a natural protection against phylloxera and infusing the plant with a variety of minerals. The proximity to the Atlantic Ocean allows for a high exposition to maritime winds and mild temperatures with short amplitude all year round. The presence of Sintra’s hills to the east promotes a fast rise of the sea’s humidity, which, as it condenses, creates the typical intense mist in the region.
Winemaking | Elevage: harvested in 18kg-boxes, selection in the vine. Spontaneous fermentation in stainless-steel vats. Whole bunch pressed. One-year elevage in French oak barrels (225L).
Tasting Notes: presents a gold-yellow color, seaside aromatics with flinty notes. Mineral and fresh in mouth, dry structure and delicate acidity.
