The “Gackes Oben” is sourced from a prime, central parcel of the Ritch above the “Gackes,” a small wall of slate. These are the so called “younger” vines of 70 years old, mostly grafted and in the highest elevation of the vineyard at 220m where it is very windy, but also gets very direct sun. Welcome to the cooler part of the Ritsch. 25 of residual sugar. Drinking alongside the Gackes Unten it is a true masterclass in terroir. Notes of minerals, greengage, grapefruit zest, whipped cream, and earthy spices.
